About

I am a Person-Centred counsellor & psychotherapist and I have extensive experienced working with clients experiencing a range of difficulties.  My training and counselling experience has given me the knowledge and skills to work with client’s presenting with many different issues and concerns such as grief, loss, trauma, depression and anxiety, interpersonal issues and many more.

I have trained as a psychotherapist at the Sherwood Psychotherapy Institute and prior to this, I worked for over twenty years for the NHS working as a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner within primary care and a Community Mental Health Nurse.  My career within the NHS mental health services has motivated me to make counselling more accessible to clients who experience mental health stressors.  I have a particular interest in trauma, particularly clients who have a psychiatric medical diagnosis and who want to explore their experiences outside the remit of a medical model.  Some clients may find diagnosis helpful as a means to validate and understand their distress while others may feel this is misaligned with their experience; I support clients to find out what works for them to enable them to foster personal potential and autonomy over their lives.
