My approach

Whatever issues you choose to bring to counselling, my approach is to provide a non-judgemental, safe and confidential space whereby you can feel supported and work through whatever matters to you.  My approach is to focus on your concerns, to support and facilitate you through your personal experiences and allowing space to process feelings around this. I support clients to gain a greater understanding of their concerns which can help in developing a deeper self-awareness and promote our own solutions to problems.

My approach is underpinned by the Humanistic model which looks at the whole person and our personal experience of events.  Whatever, you may be going through, whether this be a significant life event such as loss, divorce or experiencing symptoms related to anxiety & depression, phobias, panic attacks or eating disorders, my approach is to facilitate you to safely explore and devise personal strategies to help you move forward,

EMDR

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing)  https://www.emdria.org/about-emdr-therapy/

I am a qualified EMDR therapist. EMDR is a structured therapy that research has found to provide effective treatment for trauma and distressing life events such as PTSD, anxiety and depression. EMDR is different in that it does not require the client to go into detail about their experiences but rather encourages the client to briefly focus on the trauma memory in conjunction with bilateral stimulation. (This may done done in the form of eye movement by using a light bar or tapping).  This process is to reduce the intensity and emotions associated with the trauma memory.

If this is something that you are interested in then we can discuss this further to ensure that you have all the information to make an informed choice.  This is usually followed by an assessment if it is deemed suitable.
